The countdown begins...

Hey everyone!

So it's Christmas. Exactly six days away from the big move to Chicago. (Yes I am flying out on New Years Eve. The flight was cheap, give me a break. :) Six days = slightly terrifying. I'm attempting to organize my life in time to get out of here AND make time to spend with all of my essential people. (You know who you are.)

I created this blog for a few reasons.:
1. Because you all said I should.
2. Because I'm an attention whore and love telling stories about my own life.
3. Because it gives me a chance to work on my creativity and add a little voice to my writing. Something every good journalist longs for.

I plan on writing at least bi-weekly and being as honest/entertaining as absolutely possible. I want you all in the loop on my Chicagoan adventures (Get it - loop. No? Come to Chicago and you will.)

If I don't get to see you before I leave, I apologize in advance. Ian and the family are going to get most of my time this week - naturally. But by all means, keep in touch. I want this move to be as interactive as possible. Which is why I'm making it UNBELIEVABLY easy for you to get in touch with me. Or send me stuff. Like Stumptown coffee. Or microbrews. Or perhaps even a hipster or two to remind me of home. I hear they don't have these things in Chicago. They do, however, have hot dogs and deep dish pizza. To that I say: Awesome. Instead of being caffeinated and intoxicated I can just be plain ol' fat. Though I'll probably need all the extra padding I can get in NEGATIVE 19 degree temperatures. Holy bajeesus.

Here's how you can reach me:

AND if you have a hankering to see my lovely face, you can usually get me on Skype: ajdierking. Especially in the evenings. Keep in mind I'm on central time.

Merry Christmas! Stay safe in the snow/slush/ice/whateverthehellisgoingonoutside. I hope to hear from you all soon.

Peace and love always.

  1. They may not have Stumptown coffee, but they have Intelligentsia, which I hear is pretty damn awesome.

Oh and, get some Garrett's popcorn. It's like crack and will give you all the padding you need for those subzero temperatures.
